Most social media sites like Twitter support. Emailing animated GIF always works. Texting (MMS) animated GIFs sometimes works, but it depends on the type of device it is being sent to and the mobile network provider.

Facebook currently does not support animated GIFs that are uploaded to its site. It will display animated GIFs if it hosted on select sites, and then shared on Facebook. Sparkbooth 5.0 and later supports this method of sharing animated GIFs on Facebook.
