I bought Sparkbooth a while back and use a t2i. The only issue i have is it has to switch from camera mode to video mode and it takes about 1 second. Do you recommend a setting where it remains on in video mode without the clicking or going from camera mode to video. I feel if I leave in video mode too long it will waste battery or camera will over heat.

Also do you recommend a certain camera. Something under $300?

When using a DSLR camera you will always have this issue.
DSLR cameras were not created to be on all the time with live view,
because the camera will overheat and shut down or worse
cause the camera to no longer work... so the camera Mfg's
set them up to auto shut down to prevent this.

The only way to not have this issue is to use a GOOD webcam
and it can be on live view for as long as you need it.
YES, a Good webcam can get great photos... I have been
using a Logitech C920 for over 10 years and 99% of the photos
are great - you can review them on my web site Gallery
It is a photo booth and not a Photographers Studio, the guests
are having fun and love all the photos.

I use a Logitec c922 and I can tell you my pictures I can stack them against any expensive and difficult-to-operate DSLR camera. with proper lighting, your picture can look great too.
