i want to test the software before I buy

i tried to test the software before I buy to see it is good for my needs but the trial version is not working! what can I do in order to test the software first? Thank you!

    Explain what is not working...??
    Does it open and are you getting any Error messages?
    What are the Error messages?
    Or Explain what is not working
