digit of the countdown. The delay in taking your photo can be your camera
auto focusing and adjusting the settings if it is set to an auto mode.

You can reduce the delay by setting the camera to M mode and manual focus.

Johntag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/421427802017-03-13T14:51:45Z2017-03-16T06:34:28ZDelay between countdown and actual picture taken

Thanks John.

I tried using my webcam for the live view instead of using the camera and the response time was much better. However, it implies that webcam and camera both "see" the same things in their frame which is really hard to manage. Added to that that webcam is way too dark in a dark room.

I'll give a try with M mode and manual focus and let you know.

Matthiastag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/421427802017-03-15T05:04:09Z2017-03-15T05:04:09ZDelay between countdown and actual picture taken

Can you try updating to 4.3.83 and let me know if you see a shorter delay?

Johntag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/421427802017-03-15T08:36:36Z2017-03-15T08:36:39ZDelay between countdown and actual picture taken

Hello John,
I am actually using V5. Have you made any change on this version too?

I tried using Manual focus instead of auto focus. I can see some improvement but the delay is mostly spent in the miror moving from live view to the photo taken.

Matthiastag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/421427802017-03-15T14:50:29Z2017-03-15T14:50:29ZDelay between countdown and actual picture taken

Yes, you can update to 5.0.83. Let me know if you see any difference in the
delay.

Johntag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/421427802017-03-15T19:00:57Z2017-03-15T19:00:58ZDelay between countdown and actual picture taken

I just tried 5.0.83 and it looks slightly better to me (i'm using Canon 450D), but not sure if it is due to the fact that I am now using manual focus.

It is mostly surprising for guests when they use it for the first time. That's why it would be great if you could add an (optional) "retake" button on screen so that they can retake the picture themselves if they want to.

Thanks

Matthiastag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/421427802017-03-15T20:13:58Z2017-03-15T20:13:58ZDelay between countdown and actual picture taken

You can enable retake photo under Settings > Countdown in the 5.0 beta at
I am using Sparkbooth through touchscreen for my guests and it would be great if retake is possible through a button onscreen (like other actions to navigate through the Application)

Matthiastag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/421427802017-03-15T20:47:29Z2017-03-15T20:47:29ZDelay between countdown and actual picture taken

You do not need a keyboard. You can also configure the up and down arrow
keys to retake the photo, and then use an USB button or wireless
presentation controller. See attached screenshot.

Johntag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/421427802017-03-16T10:39:52Z2017-03-16T10:39:53ZDelay between countdown and actual picture taken

Yes, I thought about that also, but i'm trying to keep the solution as simple as possible for my guests : having everything on screen would be more user-friendly as navigation is already managed this way.

Having a separate device (USB button or wireless controller) implies additional instructions.

Matthias
