I am going to try Sparkbooth on my mirror booth with a cannon camera. I wanted to know if I need to have an SD card in the camera or not.

I have a Canon T3i and T6i which work with Sparkbooth without an SD card.
You can download the free trial and try it out with your camera to see

NO, you do not use an SD card...
The camera is only capturing the images/photos and
the software is receiving the image/photos to be placed
in the layout you are using.
