Hi - I'm trying to resize the image size of the photos and I'm wondering if they always have to be proportional? Is there a way to turn that feature off so that I can change the height and width accordingly? I've noticed it has to be in a rectangle and if I want it a square size, then it's too small.

There are 3 different sizes/types to all photos...
You can have Wide photos that are 2/3 ratio
or Square photos that are 1/1 ratio
or Portrait style that is 3/2 ratio

NO you can not make a photo wider or taller without changing the other dimensions. It is a Proper photo size that the camera is capturing. If you were able to change it, that would stretch or squeeze the photo out of the normal aspect ratio altering the photos appearance.
