First I highly suggest you use one of the webcams
that many photo booth companies use and get good
    quality photos. A Logitech c900 / c910 / c920 / c922 / Brio

These are proven to be the best by users.

Next in disconnect your DSLR camera and connect
your web cam and then open Sparkbooth,
Go to the Camera Settings (Ctrl+3) and select the webcam
for your camera and in the Advance setting (right below)
check the Use webcam for photos

That should be all you need to switch from DSLR to the webcam

First... did you download the drivers for the camera from the Logitech website?

Can you check and see if the camera is listed
as a devise on your computer
(in the Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers)

...also, is there some other program/software
that is using the webcam? (like Skype...?)

You are getting that message because you are running Sparkbooth DSLR. You
have it configured to use a webcam for the preview and to take photos with
a DSLR camera, so it is waiting for you to connect a DSLR camera.
If you do not want use a DSLR camera, and only want to use the webcam for
both preview and to take photos - see
    http://help.sparkbooth.com/kb/sparkbooth-dslr/enabling-webcam-photos

After you download and install the latest webcam drivers from the Logitech
    website, try rebooting the computer.
