function of
your printer. It should just go into the printer queue and then
your
printer handles it from there.

Johntag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-19T19:10:14Z2015-02-19T19:10:14ZSlow printing

You can test this by opening your printer queue and running a SB
session in a smaller window. See at what point the print arrives
and how long before the printer initializes.

Rob (ZCZ)tag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-20T13:03:07Z2015-02-20T13:03:07ZSlow printing

ok i understand sparkbooth doesnt control the speed, what i
wanted to know is why it doesnt send a msg to the printer to start
printing until the preview has finished and main screen appears
again.

I cant work out why my computer is taking so long to start
printing....theres a good 30 second pause before it starts up.

Ian Stamptag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-20T14:11:56Z2015-02-20T14:11:56ZSlow printing

Regarding ... why it doesnt send a msg to the
printer to start printing until the preview has finished and main
screen appears again

You need to keep in mind, Sparkbooth is CREATING
your finished layout with the photos and your layout design
and it can't send it to the printer until all the photos are
taken
and it has a few seconds to make the layout to send to be
printed.
No, I am not saying it takes 30 seconds... that is your printer

I use a Hiti dyesub printer and my printing usually starts when
the Preview of the photos starts... there are a few times it will
not start printing until the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th photo has been shown
on screen but I am sure the image was sent as soon as Sparkbooth
created the image layout in less than 2 seconds of the last photo
taken.

Try Rob's (zchurchz) suggestion by having a small window for SB
and the Printer queue opened... it will show when the printer
received the image.

Joe Connelltag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-20T15:14:16Z2015-02-20T15:14:16ZSlow printing

Hi Joe, yes thats what i've done and how i know it doesnt send
until after 4th photo and screen has returned to main menu for next
session.

I'm wondering if it could be ram or cpu issue. Its not best
computer i'll admit.

1 gig ddr2 ram, 2.8ghz P4 processor, 40 gig Hdd. windows XP.

If it sent like you said in the first photo preview i'd be very
happy :)

Ian Stamptag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-20T15:31:35Z2015-02-20T15:31:35ZSlow printing

YEP... you are using a computer that is way to low
and doesn't even meet the MINIMUM system requirements
listed on the Home page (bottom right) of 4gm Ram

and I have always suggested no less than 6gb Ram
for the latest SB versions due to Ram is what is needed
to help the speed of all the processing that is needed
for such large files (images) to be created in the layout
and sent to the printer ...

Joe Connelltag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-20T15:35:32Z2015-02-20T15:35:32ZSlow printing

Ian. by looking at this I can tell your way under power Joe can
explain more on the computer side of this but like all photo booth
program out there they need Ram lots of ram sparkbooth or any other
program out there are to advance. you need to upgrade to a faster
computer with at least 6 or more ram and a higher ghz

Jorge Olivatag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-20T15:35:58Z2015-02-20T15:35:58ZSlow printing

joe you beat me to it I type slow

Jorge Olivatag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-20T15:43:25Z2015-02-20T15:43:25ZSlow printing

yep had a feeling it'd be that......just wanted to ask first
before i bought new computers for my booths.

Ian Stamptag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-20T15:45:15Z2015-02-20T15:45:15ZSlow printing

also would it be slowed down by me using a 10 metre usb
cable??

Ian Stamptag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-20T15:51:15Z2015-02-20T15:51:15ZSlow printing

Holy crap... did you put your printer in the room next door?
why would you use that long of a cable?
(yea, I know it ways the only one you had at the time)
use the shortest cable to reach your printer from the computer
and YES... that too will cause a bit slower printing

But the main reason is your Ram is way too low

Joe Connelltag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-20T15:52:37Z2015-02-20T15:52:37ZSlow printing

oh... I get it, your printer is in the Out Back LOL

Just kidding of course, It's all about the computer guts.

Rob (ZCZ)tag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-20T16:29:36Z2015-02-20T16:29:36ZSlow printing

Ian, this is not a reply to you... it is for by other friend

Sometimes we have to put the printer at the other end of the
table so 10 metres is necessary.

Ian Stamptag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-23T14:41:09Z2015-02-23T14:41:09ZSlow printing

Those are some cool setups. I would love to be able to able to
ask for that much area...it seems that when you tell people you
need more room than the size of the actual booth, they get
confused.

Rob (ZCZ)tag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-23T14:53:33Z2015-02-23T14:53:33ZSlow printing

I agree Rob... it would be nice to have a walk thru booth
pick the props on one side, go in take photos come out
the other side and pick you their prints... very nice

Joe Connelltag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-23T16:05:37Z2015-02-23T16:05:37ZSlow printing

Cheers guys, we're quite proud of them and they flow very nicely
at busy events.

Time to upgrade the computers though it would seem :)

Ian Stamptag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/360770712015-02-24T14:55:31Z2015-02-24T14:55:31ZSlow printing

I am still a little worried about the Phenom you ordered. It
looks good in overall computing power (quad core) but has a low
single thread performance. Please let us know how it goes once you
get it installed.

Rob (ZCZ)
