DSLR camera rather than a webcam

Would it be possible to use this software in combination with my DSLR camera rather than a webcam? I would prefer to have better quality pictures than my webcam can provide, but I really like how user friendly this software is. Please let me know if there is a way to use it in combination with my camera, and if so, how that would be done...

Thank you,

Bethany

    Hi,

    If you meet the conditions in this post, I can give you access to the
    private beta for Canon cameras:

    Thanks for the offer, that would be awesome, but I have a Nikon D90, and my computer is a mac. I do have a point and shoot camera that is a cannon power shot, which I suppose might take better pictures than the built-in webcam on my macbook pro, which is my other option, and I could use my old laptop, which is a pc and has windows vista. Do you think I would have better results with my cannon power shot than my built-in web cam? And does the process still flow as smoothly when using a camera rather than a webcam? My powershot is just one of the cheaper ones, I paid somewhere between $100 and $150, and I plan to use a continuous light source through a softbox in the photobooth.

    Thanks,

    Bethany

    The pictures taken using the private beta with a digital camera are
    much better than the webcam. But you need to first verify that your
    camera is compatible with the ExtraWebcam software mentioned in the
    post. Please read the post carefully to see if you qualify.

    I'm at work right now, so I can't test it until I get home, but I'm sure it will work, there's a big long list of all of the cannon powershots on the extrawebcam site, and mine is only a year old. I'd be very interested in learning more about this -

    Thanks,
