I know there is a closed "recommended printers" thread, and this might be a redundant question, but I couldn't find a good answer anywhere. I need printer recommendations. I am not running a professional photo booth; this is a one-time event (well, hopefully one-time--it's my wedding). Criteria:

  • speed is the most important thing
  • quality is a distant second, as we using a stock webcam anyway
  • I don't want to spend a ton of money on printer or consumables, because it turns out weddings are expensive

All thoughts are appreciated!

I've had good success with the Epson Picturemate 260. Pictures take about 30 seconds per print and supplies cost about $35 for 150 prints from Amazon. I bought the printer used off of ebay for less than $100. The pictures are photo quality and the speed keeps up with the booth. You just need someone to load paper into the printer as it doesn't hold that many sheets before you have to refill it.

The printer rear tray holds ~40 sheets. Consider about a 40-60 seconds a sheet under heavy use with prop picking/sitting/printing. Ink carts last about 3 hours under heavy use (depending on coverage etc..)

1 wedding = 4-5 hours of use, make sure you have:
    300 sheets of paper
1 extra set of ink carts
set up the slideshow, post-session and the "return to color" check box.
