They also want onsite printing. Usually I have someone sitting in front of lightroom on a computer for this while tethered, BUT... if I could shoot to my photo Kiosk it would be SO AWESOME and save me hiring a technician. Can the software do this? If not.. is there a way to shoot into my sparkbooth DSLR software as a tethered photographer (camera in hand) and have the photokiosk work normally?

Donald Norris Fessmantag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/453322992018-05-23T01:37:32Z2018-05-23T01:37:32ZShooting tethered to Photo Kiosk

Sorry, no... the software is created for a photo booth style set up.

A layout is created with 1 to 4 photos on a 4X6 print out.
When the photo(s) is taken, it is added to the layout and
sent to the printer AND also saved to the computer.

All of this is done with a camera CONNECTED to the computer
and a printer CONNECTED to the same computer.

Joe Connelltag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/453322992018-05-23T02:01:23Z2018-05-23T02:01:24ZShooting tethered to Photo Kiosk

Hi Joe,
I use my booth all the time and I'm familiar with the software (i'm also
bit a tech nerd)

The camera and printer are connected to the sparkbooth DSLR system which is
connected to my Photo kiosk as usual, the only difference would be instead
of pushing a button on the screen, I have a person pushing the button on
the camera. I know this isn't the normal use, but there is a demand for
this type of setup as well.

Actually, I think if I had the camera connected to both versions of
sparkbooth and set my tether folder to the same folder sparkboothDLSR puts
the images, the images shot from the camera would show up on the Kiosk for
printing and the system would work just fine. Thoughts? Concerns?

Thanks,
Don

Donald Norristag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/453322992018-05-23T02:09:04Z2018-05-23T02:09:04ZShooting tethered to Photo Kiosk

The Kiosk mode only monitors a folder where
the photos are saved it has nothing to do with
capturing photos... only printing and uploading
what is selected from the saved folder.

RE: (i'm also bit a tech nerd) I guess you know more than I
and I will let John reply when he is available.

Joe Connelltag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/453322992018-05-23T02:36:22Z2018-05-23T02:36:23ZShooting tethered to Photo Kiosk

You actually just confirmed what I thought. As long as I tether the images
into the Sparkbooth folder where the Kisok is monitoring, everything should
work just fine.
Thanks,
Don

Donald Norristag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/453322992018-05-23T14:02:20Z2018-05-23T14:02:20ZShooting tethered to Photo Kiosk

That's actually very interesting. Not being a photographer I hadn't considered you could have the booth photos AND a remote camera send photos to the kiosk as long as the remote camera can save into the Sparkbooth photos directory. DSLR photo size could be an issue, but that could be auto-resized with a little software magic also.

Rob (ZCZ)tag:help.sparkbooth.com,2010-04-06:Comment/453322992018-05-23T14:39:43Z2018-05-23T14:39:43ZShooting tethered to Photo Kiosk

Rob, (and Donald)

I just did a test - created a folder and dropped in
a few (36) photos from one events singles folder then
I added 3 more photos from a different event to that folder
and they were added at the beginning...
Then I did an email test with one photo and it worded fine
(as I expected) but these are all the created photos that were
done with the PB software (not DSLR size photos) -

So I then added 2 DSLR size photos and they were added
to the album listing and I did an email test with one of the
DSLR size photos and it also worked fine (as I expected) -

BUT the time it took to send the normal SB photos compared to
the DSLR photos was about 4 times longer wait
(due to the file size being sent)

SO it can work for what Donald is trying to do as long as
he has a way to add the photos to the folder from
his camera via WiFi or manually with the SD card inserted.
...and no resizing required (unless needed for social media
uploading that may not accept images of full size DSLR.)

Joe Connell
