Attach the background here and let me know
if your layout is Portrait or Landscape and
if it is 4X6 or what size paper you are using.

I can then REDUCE it to the proper size you need and send it back...

I can reduce it. I know how to. I just need to know how to get it to stop shutting down because its too big. I cant edit anything.

Can I remote into your computer to take a look? Here are the instructions
on how to setup the remote session http://sparkbooth.com/remotesupport

I will be available for this at 9a PST (about 45 minutes from now) if that
works for you. Or we can schedule for another time.

HELLO... you need to reduce the size
BEFORE you add it to the layout editor

    Here it is made the correct size 1200px W x 1800px H
    your original image was 1760px W x 12338px H
enormous size to be placed in any program.

AND being that it is only a color, why didn't you
just select the color for the background in the layout editor?
